2025 – Public Interview
Discerning Religious Truth (Book discussion)
Hamza Karamali of Basira Education discussed Discerning Religious Truth in a public book talk hosted by Paul Williams on Blogging Theology. The conversation introduced a broad audience to the book’s treatment of logic, epistemology, and the methods by which religious truth claims are evaluated. The event also provided an accessible introduction to one of the major publications produced through ASIPT’s broader work in Islamic philosophy and theology.

Ottoman Scholarship: Hidden Knowledge Unveiled
Justin Poe, Marwan Tayyan, and Dr. Aaron Spevack of the American Society of Islamic Philosophy and Theology (ASIPT) appeared on Blogging Theology for a discussion of Ottoman scholarship and the seminary liberal arts tradition. The conversation explored the intellectual and pedagogical context of later Islamic scholarship, introduced work connected to The Logic of al-Fanārī, and discussed the foundational principles behind ASIPT’s curriculum work.

Umūr al-ʿĀmmah / General Ontology Symposium
This six-week seminar focused on the General Ontology section of al-Ījī’s al-Mawāqif and was taught by Shaykh Talal Ahdab of Zaytuna College, with weekly review sessions led by Dr. Aaron Spevack of ASIPT and Hamza Karamali of Basira Education. The program drew hundreds of general participants through YouTube Live, while approximately fifteen specialist participants were selected from close to two hundred applicants for the Zoom cohort. Participants joined from countries including India, Brazil, Turkey, Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Egypt, and Pakistan. Weekly review sessions were also led by Aaron Spevack and Hamza Karamali, creating a structured opportunity to study advanced post-classical Islamic theology in conversation with contemporary questions in cosmology, philosophy, psychology, and physics.

May – December 2021 – Seminar Series
Seminars on Mature Islamic Philosophy (8 sessions)
This eight-session series was a collaboration between the American Society of Islamic Philosophy and Theology (ASIPT), Basira Education, the Tabah Foundation, and Living Insights, introduced core material from the major chapters of al-Ījī’s al-Mawāqif. More than 200 people registered and the recordings received thousands of YouTube views. The series moved from foundational questions of revelation, logic, and epistemology through general ontology and contingent existence to divine attributes, prophecy, miracles, and resurrection. The series featured Hamza Karamali of Basira Education; Mustafa Steyer of Oxford; Dr. Aaron Spevack of ASIPT; Omar Qureshi, identified in the grant materials with Zaytuna and later with the Yaqeen Institute; and Safaruk Chowdhury of Cambridge Muslim College.
